Heinz Goetze Visiting Professor for Chinese Art History, Institute of East Asian Art History, Center for East Asian Studies at Heidelberg University, Oct. 22, 2012-Nov. 22, 2012
(Appointed as the second Heinz Goetze Visiting Professor; the first was Dame Jessica Rawson of Oxford University, recipient of the 5th Tang Prize in Sinology [2022], which is considered by some to be the “Nobel Prize of Sinology”.)
Being invited as the Heinz Goetze Visiting Professor for Chinese Art History at the Institute of East Asian Art History, Heidelberg University, represents a major recognition in the field. Established to honor Heinz Goetze’s role in shaping Heidelberg’s world-class East Asian collections, this professorship is highly selective: I was appointed as only the second Heinz Goetze Visiting Professor, following Dame Jessica Rawson of Oxford University, a leading authority in Chinese art and archaeology and recipient of the Tang Prize in Sinology (2022), often described as the “Nobel Prize of Sinology.”
