The international workshop “Reordering the Natural World: Animals, Plants, and the Natural Environment in Early Modern China (1000–1900)” (funded by NWO-MOST, Project no. 040.80.006) was co-organized by Yu-chih Lai (Academia Sinica, Taiwan) and Fan Lin (Leiden University, The Netherlands), held from December 5–8. Bringing together scholars from Taiwan and the Netherlands, the workshop explored how knowledge of the natural world was reordered in early modern China. It provided a platform for presenting ongoing research, stimulating new intellectual directions, and discussing possibilities for future collaboration, thereby strengthening cross-regional academic exchange and advancing the global study of Chinese natural history.
