This workshop sponsored by Academia Sinica’s Institute of Modern History and the Committee for Promotion of Ming–Qing Studies, highlighted new directions in Qing court studies. Moving beyond iconography, the workshop examined materiality, technology, and production processes behind the formation of “court style” in the 18th century. With participation from Taiwan-based scholars and international experts including John Finlay (EHESS, Paris), it fostered dialogue on the globalizing dynamics of Qing cultural production and underscored Taiwan’s central role as a hub for art historical research on the Qing court.
