International Workshop on “Exotica and Emperorship at the Qing Court”

The workshop sponsored by Academia Sinica’s Institute of Modern History and the Committee for Promotion of Ming–Qing Studies, marked one of the earliest efforts to establish a focused platform for Qing court studies at Academia Sinica. Drawing on newly available archives and materials, the workshop concentrated on the role of exotic objects and their relationship to emperorship, situating them within broader cultural and political frameworks of the Qing court.
The workshop was featured in the Ming-Qing Studies Newsletter of the Committee for Promotion of Ming-Qing Studies, Academia Sinica, which published a detailed report highlighting its significance and outcomes.
