“Mediating Tradition: Japanese Copperplate Printing and Art Reproduction in 1880s Shanghai,“ for 2020 Sydney Asian Art Series: Art and Technology, The Power Institute, University of Sydney

Nov. 10, 2020

Each year, the Sydney Asian Art Series gathers leading international scholars to discuss critical issues in Asian art. In 2020, during the Covid-19 period, the series adopted a virtual format, focusing on art and visual technologies across Asia. I was invited to deliver the online lecture “Mediating Tradition: Japanese Copperplate Printing and Art Reproduction in 1880s Shanghai” for the 2020 Sydney Asian Art Series: Art and Technology (The Power Institute, University of Sydney, Nov. 10, 2020). Co-presented by the University of Sydney’s China Studies Centre, the Power Institute, and VisAsia, with support from the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the series is internationally recognized for highlighting the most innovative global scholarship in Asian art.
